Follow These 4 Simple and Affordable Tips to Improve Your Home’s Curb Appeal

When you put in the time and money to remodel your home, the last thing you want to find is that driving up to your home leaves you feel lackluster. Instead, look for ways to improve your home’s curb appeal. At Mission Tile West we know that homeowners dream of the perfect porch and outdoor areas but often don’t know where to start. Here are four simple – and affordable – tips that can get you started.

  1.  You don’t have to repaint your entire house to get a new color
  2. If you wish that your home were a different color you may consider painting the home or having resided. However, either of these projects are big deals that cost a lot of money. An easier, more affordable option is to choose an accent color and then find ways to incorporate it into the exterior of your home.

You can do this by adding a new front door and shutters in the color you want, or simply by adding decorations to your porch. Just make sure that the new color is compatible with the existing color. If the colors clash, then instead of improving the color scheme you will be making things worse.

  3. Tile your front yard
  4. No, we do not mean that you should remove your grass, pave over your yard and install tile – though we certainly have plenty of tile options that would look great! Instead, we suggest adding tile to your front yard in unique ways. You could choose planters that are tiled. You could create a porch and tile it to create a unique and arty spot. There are many ways to incorporate tile into the front yard. Remember that tile is easy to keep clean too!

  5. Find the best landscaping options that will give you the most back
  6. Regardless of the size of your lawn, you likely do not want to spend the money to have to completely re-landscaped. One of the biggest differences you can make is to just maintain your yard well. This means mowing it regularly, keeping everything trimmed, and edging the sidewalk. You can then add a few wisely placed flowers or bushes to make a tidy impact.

  7. Decorate your patio or porch
  8. Consider your patio or porch to be an extension of the inside of your home. If you bring out the Halloween decorations in October, bring them outdoors too. If you create a winter wonderland inside, bring out some fake snow and tasteful winter-inspired decorations to the porch. Adding a touch of your own personality to your porch is a great way to make the most of the space.
